What Is Aquatic Therapy?

Aquatic therapy is a specialized form of occupational and physical therapy that takes place in a pool, guided by a licensed occupational or physical therapist. Using the natural resistance and support of water, children work on therapy goals in a fun, engaging environment. 

Activities are designed to improve:

  • Sensory regulation

  • Fine motor skills

  • Gross motor skills

  • Attention and focus

  • Strength and coordination

  • Range of motion

  • Water safety and confidence

Weekly 30-minute sessions for 8 weeks

Libby McRae, OTD Libby is a licensed occupational therapist and certified lifeguard, with experience in aquatic therapy and a lifelong passion for swimming.

Kris Lowe, PT, DPT Kris is a licensed physical therapist with 18 years’ experience in pediatric therapy.
